Maryland Crabs At Mike’s Crab House

The next day it was time to say good bye to DC and drive over to Maryland for our friends wedding. The only things on the agenda were the wedding and eating crabs!! I am obsessed with shellfish like crab and lobster so this was a must.

I also got a new mug to add to my collection. I had been to Maryland a few times before, but not since I start collecting. Now I just need New Jersey for my Mid-Atlantic states.

We drove up to Mike’s Crab House North. It was a quintessential seafood restaurant right on the water.

We started off with some crab balls, which the waitress recommended. These were like crab cakes but less stiff since they were in ball form. They were amazing! It was practically all crab meat with a perfect small amount of breading. I could have eaten these all day.

Then it was on the main event of crabs! We got a big plate of them to crack apart and eat. They were covered in delicious old bay seasoning and tasted so great. I love pulling the legs off and eating them, but it’s so much work for such little meat! Andrew had to help me get to the meat in the body. You have to hit them open with a mallet and then find the right parts with the meat. It’s kind of gross if you think about it, but they are so delicious that it doesn’t matter.

We ended up eating there for over an hour! It was time consuming opening those things. So we headed to the wedding after that. Our friend Zach from college was getting married before he went to the Air Force, so he and his now wife Merrilee had a cute little ceremony at a nearby church. After that, we hung out and had a great time catching up, as we hadn’t seen each other in over a year. We were definitely glad we made the trip there, because it was worth it for a fun time with friends.
